Coconut tubers, also known as coconut hearts or coconut buds (in Hanoi) or coconut sprouts (in the southwestern region of Vietnam), are the tender core located at the top of the coconut tree trunk.
Each coconut tree has only one tuber, which is considered the most delicious and unique part of the coconut tree! It is called unique because to obtain the tuber, the coconut tree must be "sacrificed" by cutting it down. Therefore, people usually select coconut trees with few fruits, fallen or rotten fruits, excessively tall trunks, or those affected by pests or diseases to harvest the tuber.
After removing the leaves and peeling off the tough outer husk, the tender core, known as the coconut tuber, is obtained:
consisting of the young coconut shoot, tender coconut husk, and sometimes even the young coconut flowers. This tuber has a creamy white color, crisp texture, and a deliciously sweet, rich, nutty, creamy, and refreshing taste.
Chi Tam Coconut Tuber Processing Factory has been producing and processing coconut tubers since 2012, with the main product being fresh coconut tubers used as the primary ingredient for making salads, stir-fries, soups, braised dishes, and sweet and sour pickles, often served with braised dishes.
